Are you ready for the smoking ban?

Smoking bans are already in force in Ireland and Scotland and in 2007 similar legislation will be implemented in England and Wales.
There is certain criteria that must be met for a designated smoking area to comply with the regulations.

The smoke free legislation dictates the specifications of a suitable smoking shelter - adapting existing courtyards or passageways will not conform to the proposed legislation.

All our designs comply with the proposed criteria and, in most cases, no planning is required.

Our designs can be customised to suit your requirements and the environment, with a choice of styles and framework colours and options of clear, opaque or etched screens.

We offer a range of optional equipment including tables, bench seats, stools, ashbins & fixed outdoor ashtrays and signs.

In accordance with the legislation, the appropriate No Smoking signage must be displayed and establishments must have a No Smoking policy in place for their staff and customers. AD Direct UK can assist with the provision of all such requirements to ensure your premises comply with the Smoking Ban.

This shelter is 5m x 5m and is 2.85m in height, and was supplied with 2 x L shaped planters, and 4 x handmade stools and a drinks bar shelf.

All our smoking rooms and shelters comply with the proposed legislation and in most cases they do not need planning permission.

The position at the moment is that the ban has been passed by parliament and will come into force during the summer of 2007. The regulations have yet to be published, but it is widely understood that England and Wales will follow Scotland, who in turn have followed Ireland.

The main points to bear in mind are that the shelters for smokers must not be 'enclosed'. By enclosed they mean that 50% of the walls of the building must be permanently open to the air.
